A Peaceful Interlu . . . Wait, Nope, No Peace Here
The
Continuing Adventurers of What You Do When You Do What You Are Doing.
This week's adventure was brief because of time limitations, and
most of it was taken up by a battle royale! Will the party win
through, or will their corpses decorate Davy Jones' Locker?
From
my left, final table placement once everyone finally got
settled:
Nick temporarily playing Anna, who just wants to kill stuff in time.
Matt playing Nova, the thief with the most stuff possible
Sarai (pronounced Qblixr) playing Ashy, the fire struck drui... wait, no, playing Parva (pronounced sjhfguydrjhfzgfvjhhguyjxfuhv) the tree-elven druid
Thomas playing Trainfield the dwarven cleric with a wood fetish
Chris playing Lucius the human holy warrior of "I kill it with extreme prejudice"
Nilo playing Noohien the half-orc thief who also contains the void where it damaged you if you look into it
Hunter playing Strix, no, wait, playing the remarkably-similar-to-Strix Vivianne the human magic-user who won't blow you up but will try to get you to reconsider your poor life choices
and Zack playing Trinidon the elven magic-user who, if given the slightest provocation, WILL blast you into oblivion. Twice.

Today's
adventure started back at the Fortress where Bishop Canver was
hosting a very nice dinner for the adventurers. The group was brought
drinks by an attractive female ex-slave who, after the party drank,
smiled and said, "I'll be seeing you." much like the
bastardly backstabbing thief did in the previous battle at Slavers
Bay. She then vanished and escaped, heading north likely to inform
the rest of the slavers where the party was and report on their
perceived strengths.
In an attempt to beat the attempted assassin and informant back to Slavers Bay, the party used the Homing spell to travel to the beacon Trinidon had left in their quarters at Blackjack's Port, and from there they hired a ship to take them towards Slavers Bay. Fate intervened when on the second night out the boat was attacked by orcish raider vessels. The party prepared for battle while Lucius and Trinidon took the battle to the orc ships with bow and fireball spells. Return fire was scattered but did score several hits, bloodying the party before the boats collided with a crash.
The battle raged across the deck of the party's boat as orc marines charged to the attack. Vivianne used an illusion spell to create the image of an angry demon on the adventurers' boat, making it appear as if they had a powerful ally. However, the main result of this was to panic the normal sailors on the adventurers' boat, and many of them quickly dove overboard to escape the demon though some stayed to fight valiantly. Soon the deck was slick with blood and choked with corpses. The party had killed off a high number of orc marines during the battle but more were coming still. The spells of the party turned the tide over time. Finally, abandoning one of their boats, the remaining orcs and their leaders left, their numbers depleted by around half. There were many badly injured crew and several dead crew left upon the floating wreck of the party's ship. As the party recovered from the battle, some basic repairs were made and the party's vessel planned to return to port, but first there was the remaining and abandoned orc ship to loot!

And
there the adventure ended. Current award: 875 experience points. Plus
next time the question of what will be found on the ship is answered!
